A few differences
1. 95% of dogs help their own proprietary licking food dropped on the floor. 12% of cats deign to sniff before leaving.
2. 92% of dogs barking protect their owners against foreigners. 1% of cats protect their owners if they feel like it.
3. 71% of dogs are trained to sit on command. 100% of cats will sit when they want.
Good do you think of this? Dogs are better than in cats because of their habits? Here is the background. A friend posted an article on Facebook comparing the habits of two groups of people. It was obvious that the author would much prefer a group, looked down at the other, and hope to influence the reader to accept. For this reason, I decided to write this blog because it is often done and we are so easily manipulated.
Reading a column, we should find out who the author is and what the point of view of this writer. The author of these three comparisions between dogs and cats seems pretty obviously a dog person. (In fairness, I must admit that I am the person who wrote this-if you have not guessed and really love canines and felines.)
Check the facts. What these statistics come from the brain of the writer, a reliable and professional study, or a study conducted by Dogs-Cats-Who-hatred? Do not be manipulated by a writer of prejudice or facts and figures that can not be based on other than that they fit all our ideas and we love to find someone willing.
Ask yourself: are there other factors that could explain this? Well, of course, more dogs than cats back because they are dogs!
Here is another and different examples: What do you think might explain
this difference in behavior? Again, the figures are formed. 75% of men shower once a day. 23% of women do. We could jump to the conclusion that men are cleaner than women. But the truth can be 1) Many women prefer to take a bath or 2) Some women shower twice a day.
In this era of large divisions with each group claiming their own set of facts, I think it's more important than ever to play responsibly, check the "facts" given, and decide whether this information is that you must considered or ill-founded propaganda.
